Feeling Safe
A pilot partnership project for children affected by domestic abuse and their non abusing mothers. A committed multi-agency group including health and social services have developed a new series of creative workshops for children called ‘Feeling Safe’ running alongside a dedicated mothers group
The group offers the children and adults the opportunity and space to express their feelings, views, share experiences and allow them to learn to manage the legitimate anger and trauma that follows domestic abuse. Personal skills are learned that will help them form and maintain positive future relationships.
Since pilot funding was granted in 2005, Feeling Safe has run 10 groups with over 100 children and 70 mums, Feeling safe has published a manual of the ‘Feeling Safe’ way. Launched on the 4th July 08, it provides a direct way to share and promote practise and provide a small yet consistent income to continue work.
