Summary
Nottingham Children, Young People and Families Project (CYF ) worked with young women from Nottingham’s most under resourced communities who showed talent and passion for music and film to develop their artistic and technical skills.
The Sound project added to CYF’s expertise working with young women facing structural challenges including housing insecurity, food poverty, and the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences.

How this project supported Ragdoll Foundation aims
Projects funded through Investing in Young Women explored how arts and cultural organisations could support gifted young women from disadvantaged backgrounds to develop their talents and skills with a view to embarking on careers in the arts and creative media.
Nottingham CYF’s strong, focused proposal offered an exciting new approach to breaking down gender and class barriers to music and film production. This well-developed project had the potential to make a tangible difference to the young women with whom it worked. Involving potential participants in devising the application added to its strength – the best of the music and film production applications in a crowded field.
